A suspected drug dealer was arrested in Selby last week thanks to joint patrols between local police and British Transport Police.
Last Thursday (20 November) officers in plain clothes were on joint patrols in the town when they saw what they believed was a drug deal taking place in an alleyway off Gowthorpe.
The suspect, a 23-year-old man from Leeds, was arrested and 35grams of suspected crack cocaine was seized along with £500 in cash.
The man was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and obstructing a police officer. Drug dealing paraphernalia was also recovered from a property in Selby linked to the suspect after officers carried out a search at the address.
The man was given bail for this investigation to allow for further enquiries to be carried out. However, he was also recalled to prison due to breaching his licence conditions for previous offending and is now back behind bars,.
Drug dealing harms communities and fuels organised crime which then impacts on everyone - including children who are exploited and used by gangs to do their dirty work.
If you have any information about drug dealing in your community please report it by:
• Calling the police on 101 • If you do not want to speak to the police, you can report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. • Always call 999 in an emergency
